Sweet Fellowship

Beauty in Every DayWhom do you most enjoy spending time with?  Is it your spouse after a long day?  Maybe it’s a best friend who has known you since “way back when”?  Could be it’s a parent whom you enjoy having those long conversations with.  The conversations don’t even have to be long.  Sometimes they are brief, but end up being just the encouragement, or filled with the wisdom you needed at that moment.  Either way, you walk away with a smile and a little spring in your step that you didn’t have before your time together.

Friends….that’s the kind of time Jesus wants to spend with you.  It doesn’t have to be all formal, calculated and ritualistic.  Just hang out and chill with Him.  Tell Him your deepest desires and dreams.  The ones you don’t dare tell anyone else because they might think you’re silly.  Ask Him to give you understanding about something you’ve read in His word.  Hey, He wrote the Book…I think He’s capable of helping us understand it!

Tell Him all about that situation that irritated you and frankly, makes you angry.  Ask Him to help you gain His perspective on it.  Then just sit…  relax…and listen.  Listen to His sweet voice falling on the ears of your heart like the morning dew on the grass.

In The Garden

I come to the garden alone,
While the dew is still on the roses,
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.

Refrain:
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

Garden

Some days it is admittedly harder than others to be still and take that time to communicate.  But after all Jesus sacrificed for you and me, don’t you think that we could sacrifice a few minutes of sleep, or (ah-hem), a television program to invest in the most important relationship in our lives?

I guarantee dear friend, you will walk away from that encounter with a smile on your face, and a song in your heart.  You’ll have a new spring in your step as well as the strength for whatever lies ahead.  The more time we spend with Him in His word and prayer… the more we realize how we can’t… or don’t want to live without Him in any of our days.

“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”  Psalm 34:8

“The Lord your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.”  Zephaniah 3:17

      Think about this for a few moments;  If you look back at Genesis 1:24-28,  you see that God created all living creatures; cattle, creeping things, beasts, etc. “according to its kind”.  But when He created mankind He said;

Let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit), “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;”  Gen. 1:26a

All of the creatures and critters were created according to their own kind, in their own likeness.  But we…mankind…we were created in the image of God…after His likeness.  Dear friend, He created you…He created me…for the purpose of having fellowship with Him!  Just let that sink in.  The Creator of the entire universe created us to have fellowship with Him!  But He won’t force Himself into our days.  He waits, like a gentleman, to be invited in.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. ”   Revelation 3:20

     Friend, I do hope you will invite Him into your day…everyday…to enjoy sweet fellowship together.

If you’ve been encouraged, I’d love for you to please share. 🙂

Blessings,

Debbie
